Our dreams include seeing neighborhoods, apartment buildings, condos, coffee shops, cubicles, bars, backyards and playgrounds become places where Jesus is made center. We can’t wait to start churches in Chicago, through the expanding suburbs, and throughout the States and around the world.
We are not the first pioneers though, we’re simply continuing the work of others, including the great men and women of God from centuries past. Imagine how the Apostle Paul felt entering into a new city with the expectation that the Gospel would grip the hearts of men and women, and imagine his amazement if he were alive today to see the continuation of his work in the cities of Philippi, Corinth and Ephesus.
The work of Paul, spreading the Gospel throughout his world, from Greece into Asia, has had long-lasting impact. God used this ex-enemy of the Faith to spread Christianity throughout the Roman Empire, a journey of God-shaped proportions, and empowered Paul to write what would become much of the New Testament. However, Paul would not have become a missionary, would not have contributed to our faith had it not been for one man named Barnabas.
Barnabas trusted Paul, provided for him and the work of the early Church and made it possible for Paul to spread the Gospel.
Prayer accomplishes so much more than we could ever understand. We ask that you would consider praying for the work of Habitat throughout the suburbs and beyond as we faithfully and enthusiastically join God on mission.
