The mission of Habitat is to help people live a Christ-centered life, and everything we do is geared towards bringing that into reality. Habitat weekends is a vital part for each person who is in the HCC family, but we realize that everything that goes into centering one's life around Christ can't happen in a two hour window on the weekend. That's why Community groups are such an important part to the life of Habitat. It's in these settings that we go beyond the routine 'hello' at one of our weekend gatherings and see how we can better help each other live for Jesus.

In the the New Testament section of the Bible different leaders explained what life in the Church looks like. A pattern develops that is connected by the phrase 'one another.' A few examples would be the call to encourage, offer hospitality, forgive, and love one another. The reality is that very few of these forty three examples in scripture can be done at a large group gathering. Often times the place where these take place is a living room or at the local coffee shop. One thing is for sure though, there are no lone rangers in the Christian faith. None of us can do this on our own, and Habitat seeks to be a place where people learn to live out the Christ centered life in the community of others.

So, what goes on in a community group? Each group is going to look a little different, but there will be some common themes running throughout. First off, it's all connected back to Jesus. This church is about people centering their lives on Him, and each group will function for that to happen. There will be times to read a challenging book, have fun and eat some good food, pray together, talk about the Bible, and live out the dozens of 'one anothers' each person in the church is called to do.

The great thing is that this isn't some spooky commitment. Someone who gets involved in Habitat isn't signing over their life and sacrificing their schedule. The large and small group gatherings are a vital point of connection to Christ for each of His followers, but they are not everything. We realize that every person has areas of responsibility they have been entrusted with by God, and we want people to maintain involvement in those as well.

So we invite you to be a part of the Habitat Community. We would love to see you each weekend, and we would love to see you go beyond that and become involved with a group of people who will help you center your life on Christ.
