Our friends at the Campus Life Teen Center, run by Youth For Christ are doing a phenomenal work! Since they opened the doors of the awesome facility (only in late November) located just outside downtown Arlington Heights, they have had well over 100 original new visits from jr. high and sr. high school students. The goal of Campus Life is simply, love students with the love of Christ and introduce them to Him. Just think, simply by volunteering once a week, helping a student with homework, or playing pool with them, you have the opportunity to live out the Gospel and demonstrate the love and compassion of Christ! This is our primary mission field, serving students in our community. Don't worry about packing up, visiting a foreign country and learning a new language...the need exists here in our city. Interested in being a part of the Teen Center? Simply see the Hub (our information table) each Sunday for more info.

God in His mercy has given us another year. Imagine this year to be different from the last, imagine fruitful times of prayer, imagine not only reading the Bible, but understanding it as well as craving it. During 2012, one of Habitat's goals is to make us all ready to continually be attentive to God.

The first ever Movies in the Park was an amazing event hosted by Habitat Christian Community and Arlington Heights Campus Life. The two organizations teamed up to provide a free community event that would serve as a means to let families have fun together. Giveaways, free food, glow bracelets and of course Megamind shown on a 25x15 foot screen helped make this warm evening a picture perfect spot for some family fun. Joining in on the evening was Chicago's very own Flirty Cupcakes Food Truck, who brought some amazing and delicious cupcake creations.

We thank God for our freedoms and the countless men and women who have given everything, even their lives for this country. While a government and nation may not always do things that please or praise Jesus, we pray for our leadership and God's perfect will to take place in our nation. Happy 4th of July!

MeatFest is a terrific time in the life of Habitat Christian Community where we get the grill out, throw on some lunch and play volleyball together. All the fun starts after service on Sunday, June 12th. All you have to do is bring some side dish to share with others and we'll take care of the rest. Love potato salad? Bring some to share! Love chips and guac? Bring enough for others! The best thing you can bring to MeatFest is friends and family. Its a great casual time to meet and eat with others (see what we did there with meet?). Come to Habitat for the AM service at 10 and join us down the street at SYCAMORE TRAILS PARK, 1500 E. Kensington in Mount Prospect for MeatFest after service.

Did Jesus really mean what he said? How can we take seriously a guy, no matter how good he is, who claims to be the only way to God, who says we must deny ourselves in order to truly be fulfilled and who's testimony ultimately led to his death? Together we hope to get past the hype and hyperbole to discover what Jesus meant when he said what we read in Scripture.
